Georgia Avenue Reopens After Collision Involving Fire Truck

Intersection was closed for 10 minutes.

Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, a fire engine leaving the Glenmont station was involved in collision with a car at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Randolph Road.

The accident happened after the fire engine was taking a left turn onto the southbound lanes. The car was also traveling south. 

According to Capt. Garcia of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, neither the driver of the car nor any firefighters were hurt. There was minor damage to both the fire engine and the car and the intersection was closed for about 10 minutes.

Garcia said that as with all accidents involved fire department vehicles, the engine will be fully inspected.
