Glenmont Jewelry Store Robbed at Gunpoint

Police say an employee buzzed a man past security only to be robbed when the man pulled out a gun.

Montgomery County police are searching for a suspect in the Jan. 21 armed robbery of The Gold Spot, located at 11935 Georgia Avenue in Glenmont.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., the suspect arrived at the business and pulled on the front door attempting to gain entry, police said in a statement.  The business has controlled access, so when the suspect was seen at the door, the employee allowed him entry into the store.

Once inside, the suspect pulled down a mask to cover his face, produced a handgun from his waistband and announced the robbery.  The suspect demanded the employee move to the rear of the store and was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of cash and gold jewelry before fleeing the scene.
