Police Release Surveillance Photo of Suspects in Credit Card Thefts

Police said the suspects used the stolen credit cards in the Wheaton Plaza area and tried to buy Target gift cards.

Suspects who stole wallets from an 89-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman are alleged to have used the victims’ credit cards at gas stations and ATM’s around the Wheaton Plaza area, police announced today.

Police have a surveillance photo of the suspects, who attempted to use the stolen credit cards to buy gift cards at the Target on Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton.

The police describe the suspects as two black males, 40-55 years of age, 6’0”-6’3”, and weighing 200-250 pounds with balding or close cut hair and little or no facial hair. Both suspects were described as well-dressed.

At this time, the Montgomery County police are looking for the public’s help with identifying the suspects and asking anyone who may have information about the suspects to contact the 4th District Station at 240-773-5500.

Also, officers are asking anyone who believes that he/she may have been a victim of these suspects to contact police.

First theft, Sept. 9:
The suspects stole the wallet of an 89-year-old man while he was on an elevator in the medical office building at 18109 Prince Philip Drive in Olney, police said.

Second theft, Oct. 20:
The suspects distracted an 87-year-old woman, who was shopping at the Giant Food store at Leisure World Plaza, by asking for help with locating a lost contact lens, police said. Then they stole her wallet from her purse, police said.

To deter theft, police advise carrying a wallet in a front pocket rather than a back pocket. When carrying a purse, make sure that it is closed and in front of you. Never leave it unattended.
