Wheaton Crime: Armed Robbery in Bank Parking Lot

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Montgomery County Police have released the latest crime statistics for the Fourth District, from Aug. 27 to Sept. 4. The list published here is not comprehensive, but rather selects incidents that occurred in or very near Wheaton.

Residential Burglary

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 11500 block of Taber Street, Silver Spring, at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.  Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.

Robberies

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 11441 Amherst Avenue, Wheaton, on Sept. 1 at 4:00 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property.

Arrested: Male, age 20, from Germantown; Male, age 22, from Gaithersburg. 

An armed robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Sun Trust bank, 2610 University Boulevard West, Wheaton, on Aug. 31 at 10:15 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim, threatened to use a weapon and obtained property.

Arrested: Female, 55, of an unknown address.  

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 11100 block of Georgia Avenue, Wheaton, on Aug. 31 at 1:15 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and obtained property. 

Commercial Burglary

A commercial burglary occurred at the B.L.T. store at overnight from 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 to the early morning hours on Aug. 28.  Forced entry; property taken.
