Wheaton Crime: Multiple Armed Robberies

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Montgomery County police have released the latest crime report for the Fourth District, from Oct. 15-22. The list published here is not comprehensive, but rather selects incidents that occurred in or near Wheaton. 

Robberies

An armed robbery occurred in the 2900 block of Kingswell Drive in Wheaton on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 2:50 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the area of Valleywood Drive and Henderson Road in Wheaton on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9:00 a.m.  The suspects assaulted the victim and removed property. 

An armed robbery occurred in the 11200 block of Grandview Ave. in Silver Spring on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9:47 p.m.  The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and obtained property.  

An armed robbery occurred at the intersection of Bucknell Drive and Windham Lane in Wheaton on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11:10 p.m.  The suspect threatened the victim with a handgun and obtained property.

An armed robbery occurred at the intersection of Grandview Avenue and University Boulevard in Wheaton on Friday, Oct. 19, at 11:30 p.m. in the area of Grandview Avenue and University Boulevard.  The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property.

strong-arm robbery occurred in the parking lot of Giant, 2900 University Boulevard West in Wheaton, occurred on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 3:45 a.m. 

Burglaries

A commercial burglary occurred at the Wheaton Community Church, 3211 Paul Drive in Wheaton, between Oct. 18 and Oct. 20.  Forced entry; property taken. 

A residential burglary occurred in the 12000 block of Saw Mill Court in Wheaton on Monday, Oct. 22, between 3:15 and 7:58 p.m.  Forced entry; property taken.   

residential burglary occurred in the 11400 block of Grandview Avenue in Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 19, at 3:00 a.m.  

A residential burglary occurred in the 1800 block of Arcola Avenue in Wheaton on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 8:25 a.m. Forced entry; property taken. 

      Arrested: Male, 17, of an unknown address.

Six armed robberies in a week and three residential burglaries. If Wheaton doesn't improve/redevelop soon, everyone with any money will leave, and then redevelopment won't even be the afterthought it currently is.
