Blown Fuses Take Out Power in Wheaton Twice in One Night

The second outage impacted 100 customers of the original 400 who lost power.

A blown fuse near Stephen Knolls School is the culprit of an outage that left hundreds of Pepco customers without power for at least two hours last night.

"The biggest outage was over by Stephen Knolls School," Bob Hainey, spokesperson for Pepco said, adding that the initial outage was about 400 residents, "They had a problem with the line fuses they had to replace."

After crews fixed the initial problem, another nearby fuse blew as well, cutting power for a second time for about 100 residents for another two hours.
