Important community meetings tomorrow, plus an update on Kemp Mill Urban Park

Yesterday evening the Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board, which covers and area from Forest Glen to Olney and further north, met to discuss the latest updates from the service area. Some updates from the Wheaton, Glenmont and Kemp Mill areas:

Wednesday Meeting-o-Rama

Wednesday will be a busy day for community meetings. At 7 p.m. Councilmember Navarro will be holding a "Snow Summit" at the East County Service Center (3300 Briggs Chaney Road), which will bring staff from the Department of Transportation to explain snow removal processes and answer questions. Also at 7 p.m., at Crossways Community Center is to gain input into the development of the downtown Wheaton. Patch will be covering both events - so no worries about the double booking.

Montgomery County Fire, Volunteers to Discuss Future of Fire Station in Glenmont

A discussion of the funding of the future fire station to replace the current station at the corner of Randolph and Georgia Road will take place at a session of the Public Safety committee on November 22nd, at 10:30 a.m.

Rebuilding the station immediately north of the current intersection is a priority in order to move forward with the Randolph/Georgia interchange project.

Kemp Mill Urban Park Meeting in January

The Montgomery County Department of Parks replied to both letters from Councilmember Navarro and the Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board about the progress .

Patricia McManus, from the park development division, noted that they had attempted to deal with short-term maintenance issues, and that a third public meeting was scheduled for January 2011. That meeting will present a proposed plan that "incorporates public input from the previous meetings."

Natalie Cantor, director of the Mid-County Services Center, had a chance to preview the proposed plan.

"Ultimately the decision will be with the community," she said about the plan, "but I felt good about it."
