What You Need to Know About Metro: April 22

Weekend track work on Metro.

It's Earth Day, so you maybe you want to ditch the car for at least this weekend - but what will Metro look like? It's not terrible on the Red Line, but if you're planning on a Easter or Passover trip to Virginia, or getting on the Blue line at all, check out our Metro updates.

  • From 9:30 p.m. tonight to close on April 24, Red line trains will be single-tracking between Twinbrook and Grosvenor-Strathmore stations - for repairs to the White Flint platform. There will also be single-tracking between New York Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue. Add 10 minutes on this side of the Red line and 20 minutes on the other to your travel time.
  • From 10 p.m. this evening to close on April 24, Blue line trains will be single-tracking from Stadium Armory to Addison Road. Add 20 minutes here.
  • Another project from National Transportation Safety Board recommendations will modify Blue Line service to Virginia this weekend. Blue Line trains will run as normal from Largo Town Center to King Street and then reroute to Huntington (normally the Yellow line). A shuttle train will run the Blue line from Franconia-Springfrield to the King Street station every thirty minutes.
