What You Need to Know About the Metro: April 15

Upcoming delays and single-tracking on the Metro.

It's not going to be an easy weekend, Metro-wise, so we'll complied all the items you need to watch out for when heading down the Red line or elsewhere.

  • The Red line will be single-tracking from Friday 10 p.m. to close on Sunday from New York Avenue to Rhode Island Avenue and Grosvenor-Strathmore and Twinbrook.
  • On the Orange line, there will be no service between the Stadium-Armory and New Carrollton Metro stations starting at 8 p.m. on Friday and continuing through the weekend until close on Sunday.  The stations in between:  Minnesota Ave, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover and New Carrollton will also be closed. There will be free shuttle buses between these stations - an express bus that goes straight to New Carrolton and an local bus that stops at each Metro.
  • Blue line change are not quite as extreme as that, but there's a twist. The Blue line will run between Largo Town Center, down through King Street and continuing to the last two Yellow line stops - Eisenhower Avenue and Huntington. A special shuttle train, operating every 30 minutes, will run between Franconia-Springfield and King Street Metrorail stations.

Correction: A previous version of the story incorrectly described the Blue line changes. It is corrected below.
