Board of Education Takes Final Vote on Community Montessori Charter School Today

Original vote postponed by Starr's suggestion.

It's been more than two weeks since the the Board of Education went to the brink of almost accepting the first charter school in the county, before a new Superintendent, at his first Board meeting, .

The whether or not these details, like the area for which students could be drawn from, can be resolved will come to a head today as the Board takes its vote on the application for Community Montessori. While the application seems to have the support of slight majority of the Board, including the recommendation of former superintendent Jerry Weast, several Board members were unsure of the application, citing both the catchment area issues and whether or not the school could offer a different experience for Montgomery County students.

The vote will be during the Board's public business meeting this evening, starting at 6 p.m, at 850 Hungerford Drive, in Rockville.
